As of the end of April 2022, there are around 85,000 purely electrically powered cars in Austria. With the increasing number of electric vehicles, the demand for (public) charging possibilities is also increasing. "Currently there are 14,500 charging points in Austria – more than petrol stations – , of which 7,500 are charging points in our roaming network", says Andreas Reinhardt, President of the Bundesverband Elektromobilität Österreich (BEÖ).
For years, BEÖ members have been investing in the expansion of public charging infrastructure with charging capacities ranging from 11 kilowatts (kW) to 350 kW. ‘E-mobilists have access to Austria’s largest roaming network for e-mobility via an app or charging card of a BEÖ member.’
To make the search for the next charging station even easier, the BEÖ makes the charging network available online via its website: Under beoe.at/roamingnetz All public charging stations in Austria are available on a daily basis and supplemented with additional information such as operator, plug type, charging power and availability.
Online directory with 14,500 charging points
The BEÖ has developed the online charging station directory together with E-VO e-Mobility, the joint venture of Austrian energy service providers for e-mobility solutions, and CIRRANTiC, the leading information service provider for public charging from Munich. In order for e-car drivers to find and conveniently charge a free charging station, digital charging management must be ensured in the background.
‘Without digitalisation, e-mobility can no longer function.”, says Ute Teufelberger, E-Mobility expert and Managing Director of E-VO. "With our services, we ensure more smartness behind the charging station and in front of the e-car." "We are pleased about the successful launch of the new BEÖ charging map", says Ulrich Heitmann, CEO of CIRRANTiC. ‘Already on the first day, when the new loading directory went online, there were over 1,000 accesses.“
